1. Create any combination of shapes
2. Create a box that covers all the shapes
3. Select all and click the Exclude Overlap tool in Pathfinder (third from left)
4. Create another box that is slightly smaller than the box in step 2.
5. Select all and click the Minus Back tool in Pathfinder (fourth from left). All the shapes will be grouped in a single object.
6. Select the object and place an image inside
7. You can even reshape any frame you want or move the image by using Direct Selection tool
This is a poster I designed for the ACLU of Northern California for a campaign to end felony disenfranchisement. The campaign slated to continue until the 2008 election, and includes English and Spanish language billboards and postcards.
